We're excited to share a major milestone: Omic's AI platform has successfully identified novel drug targets that have been validated through experimental studies.

The Challenge of Target Discovery

Finding the right drug target is perhaps the most critical—and most difficult—step in drug discovery. A good target must be:

  • Disease-relevant: Causally involved in the disease process
  • Druggable: Amenable to modulation by small molecules or biologics
  • Safe: Not essential for normal physiological function

Traditional target discovery relies heavily on academic literature and serendipity. Our approach uses AI to systematically analyze multi-omics data and identify targets that meet all three criteria.

How Our AI Works

Our target discovery pipeline integrates:

  1. Transcriptomic analysis of disease vs. healthy tissues to identify differentially expressed genes
  2. Genomic analysis of disease-associated variants and their functional impact
  3. Protein interaction networks to understand how potential targets connect to disease pathways
  4. Druggability assessment using structural and chemical features

The AI then synthesizes these signals to rank potential targets by confidence and therapeutic potential.

Validation Results

In collaboration with academic partners, we tested our AI's top predictions against experimental validation:

  • 12 novel targets identified across oncology and metabolic disease
  • 8 targets validated (67% hit rate) in cell-based assays
  • 3 targets showing drug-like small molecule binding

For context, traditional high-throughput screening campaigns typically achieve hit rates of 0.1-1%. Our AI-driven approach represents a 50-100x improvement in efficiency.

What This Means

These results validate our core thesis: AI trained on comprehensive biological data can identify drug targets that would be missed by traditional approaches.

More importantly, this isn't just about finding targets faster—it's about finding better targets. Several of our validated hits represent novel biology that wasn't previously connected to the diseases in question.

Next Steps

With target discovery validated, we're now building out the next stages of our platform:

  • Lead discovery: AI-driven identification of small molecules that modulate our targets
  • Digital patient models: Computational representations of patient biology for virtual testing
  • Pipeline programs: Internal drug discovery programs built on our validated targets

We're moving from proving the technology works to using it to discover real medicines.
